Suncorp Valuations moved their offices into a historic warehouse on 1st Avenue in Saskatoon in 2008. Tom and Peggy Gardiner worked with Kent Sutherland to create a unique interior for their employees and clients.

A unique aspect of the project was a collaboration with a Saskatoon Gallery – Art Placement. For the grand opening of the offices a variety of paintings from the gallery were displayed for sale – Tom and Peggy Gardiner purchased some paintings to remain permanently in the space, including the painting “Shuffle” by Jonathan Forrest.

The images of the reception area include suspended glazed panels and a custom reception desk made of bamboo, steel, and glazing – designed by Kent Sutherland in collaboration with Darryl Penner of Creative Wood Interiors Ltd in Osler, SK.

The offices are contained on the entire 3rd floor and a portion of the 4th floor.

The clients wanted to maximize the use of the renewable materials. This led to the choice of bamboo as a material for the reception desk, boardroom table and cabinetry. The bamboo was a solid material (not a decorative veneer overlay). Creative Wood ordered a container of bamboo from Europe.
